Lake Sidney Lanier Striper Fishing Report 04/25/2012
The most up to date Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report on the web!!
Striper fishing is good. We have spent a lot of time this week watching the wind blow. However, the fishing pattern has not changed significantly. Focus on deep water points with down rods and free lines. Start with both down rods and free lines until you find which technique is working and focus on that technique. Fish the bait and do not spend a
lot of time trying to graph fish. I have been fishing areas with large concentrations of bait and the fish seem to “come out of nowhere”. Free lines 50 to 100 feet back has worked best early with a focus on deep water points. The down rod bite is working! If you find suspended fish 20 to 30 feet down they will eat Herring on a down rod. Vary your down rod depth from 15 to 30 feet over a 50 to 70 foot bottom. The Umbrella rig is a good choice for covering a lot of water. However, down rods with Herring in areas with large
concentrations of bait is your best bet. I have had some reports of fish being caught pitching Herring on points with light tackle. Almost any creek or main lake point with bait is worth trying.
