About Us |
|
“Big Fish On” Guide Service is Mike Maddalena and Ken West. We have both been bitten by the trophy striper bug and have learned to be very successful at it. We now want to share the excitement with others. It’s is more fun for us to watch the expression on someone’s face when a BIG fish rolls next to the boat. Their shouts of “Dam! My shoulders are hurting” is music to our ears! Mike has been striper fishing Lake Lanier since 1994, and throughout the Southeast since 2002. He is an accomplished tournament angler in both the Lanier based North Georgia Striper Club (NGSC) and the National Striped Bass Association (NSBA). His NGSC accomplishments include many records, 6 angler of the year awards and 4 top six classic wins. He is captain of the NSBA Gold Cup Team Double Trouble. Double Trouble has won the 2004 GA State Championship and 2004 Live Release Team of The Year. Team Double Trouble has also finished in the top 10 during 3 of the last 4 years of the NSBA’s Gold Cup professional TEAM of the YEAR series. Ken West has been striper fishing since 1995 and been fishing for most of his 62 years. We have over a 1000 gallons of our own bait tanks to ensure a good supply of LARGE frisky bait. We also have a 100 gallon tank in the back of our truck so we can bring enough bait for a really GOOD day or a multi day trip. We fish out of a fully equipped 2002 24ft Carolina Skiff Center Console, with LOTS of rooms and high gunnels, so no worries about falling out! The boat is equipped with a Honda 130 outboard, 60 gallon Ron Vest Superbait Tank II, MinnKota AP-65 Autopilot trolling motor, and Lowrance LCX-111C-HD depthfinder/gps. Abu Garcia 7000C3 and Penn GTi reels ensure the smooth drag needed to stop a trophy striper. All reels have fresh Berkley Big Game line on them.
