Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report 03/28/2012
The most up to date Lake Lanier Striper Fishing Report on the web!!
Striper fishing continues to be excellent. With the rising temperatures the fish have moved out over the river channel and into the mouth of the creeks. Yes, that’s right the mouth of the creeks! The Lake is fishing more like May instead of March. Good numbers of fish are being caught from Browns Bridge to the Dam. Blue-black Herring pulled on free lines 80
to 120 feet back on planner boards and behind the boat continues to be the most productive technique. When the sun gets up weight your lines with one or two split shots. I have not caught a striper all week on a down rods but I always recommend hanging a couple over the side when trolling bait. Patterns can and do change! Always put someone on the front deck and cast a Capt. Mack’s 1/2 oz. buck tail jig with a fluke trailer. I have not
been pulling the umbrella rig but I would not hesitate to pull them if I am marking fish that would not eat Herring. The mouth of Flat Creek, in front of Vanns Tavern, Big Creek, Baldridge and the Dam have all produced fish this week.
